Golden Globes Witness a Compact ‘Succession’ Reunion as Stars Secure Victories

Succession Cast Team Meet

In a departure from opulent settings like Manhattan penthouses or Italian villas, the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel’s ballroom hosted a de facto reunion of the cast of “Succession” at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. The HBO satirical comedy, portraying a dysfunctional billionaire family with immense influence in the communications sector, saw several cast members, including Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Alan Ruck, Nicholas Braun, J. Smith-Cameron, and Matthew Macfadyen, gather for the ceremony just months after the conclusion of its fourth and final season.

Sarah Snook emerged victorious, securing a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Series. Expressing her gratitude, Snook remarked on the transformative impact of the show on her life and humorously acknowledged the weightiness of the trophy. Matthew Macfadyen, who won the award for Best Supporting Actor, entertained the audience with gentle mockery of his character, Tom Wambsgans, describing him as a “weird and wonderful human grease stain.” He playfully assumed the fictional title of “Tom Wambsgans CEO” and expressed appreciation for his time portraying the character.

Other “Succession” nominees at the Golden Globes included Alexander Skarsgård and J. Smith-Cameron.

On the red carpet before the event, Kieran Culkin, a Golden Globe winner himself, dismissed the idea of a “Succession” spin-off, labeling it a “horrible idea.” He drew a parallel with the beloved spin-off “Frasier” but emphasized that not every show could achieve similar success. However, Culkin did hint at a potential appearance in a show centered around “Cousin Greg,” played by Nicholas Braun, suggesting that entrance applause might be a tempting incentive.

Alan Ruck, who walked the red carpet with the assistance of a cane, revealed that he was involved in a recent car accident. The incident led to a lawsuit filed by Horacio Vela, who alleges that Ruck abruptly accelerated his truck while stopped at a red light, causing a chain reaction of collisions. Ruck filed papers in late December asserting that a judgment should be entered in his favor.

The “Succession” cast’s presence at the Golden Globes added a touch of reunion to the awards ceremony, creating a memorable moment for fans of the acclaimed comedy series. As the cast members received accolades and engaged in light-hearted banter, the event served as a fitting celebration of their contributions to the show’s success.
