Lovevery, a well-known baby brand, has issued a recall for 51,500 units of its Slide & Seek Ball Runs, a wooden toy sold in the U.S. and Canada. The recall comes after the company received 39 reports indicating a serious choking hazard associated with the toy. The Consumer Product and Safety Commission (CPSC) revealed that the wooden toy, which features a plastic ball ramp, has a wooden knob on the door of the base that can break loose, posing a risk of choking. Fortunately, no injuries related to the issue have been reported.

Lovevery, recognized for providing products and information aimed at creating developmental experiences for babies and families, is cooperating with the CPSC’s recall efforts. The company acknowledged that it recently updated the packaging of the toy, leading to the identified hazard.

The affected Slide & Seek Ball Runs were sold in the U.S. and Canada between June 2023 and November 2023. Approximately 47,000 units were sold in the U.S., while 4,500 units were sold in Canada. The item, part of Lovevery’s “Babbler Play Kit” targeted at children aged 13 to 15 months, retailed for around $120 on Lovevery’s website. Notably, this particular design lacks a Lovevery logo engraved on the base or a green sticker on the inside wall of the door.

Health Canada has also issued its own recall for the product, emphasizing the importance of addressing the potential choking hazard.

Lovevery is taking steps to contact all known purchasers directly via email to assign case numbers for the return process. For those who possess the recalled product but have not received a case number, it can be retrieved on Lovevery’s official website. Once a case number is obtained, customers can register their faulty toy on the site, including a photo of the affected door. The door should be disconnected and marked with the specific case number in advance.

Upon agreeing to dispose of the recalled item, the process will be considered complete, and customers will receive a replacement for the toy. This recall demonstrates Lovevery’s commitment to addressing safety concerns promptly and ensuring the well-being of the children using its products.

Consumers are encouraged to stay informed about the latest product recalls from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) by referring to the recall database on USA TODAY’s platform. As parents prioritize the safety of their children, addressing potential hazards in baby products becomes crucial for manufacturers and regulatory authorities alike.

In the world of parenting, product recalls underscore the significance of stringent safety standards and ongoing monitoring to protect infants and toddlers from potential risks associated with toys and other items essential for their early development.

While Lovevery takes swift action to address this specific recall, it serves as a reminder for both companies and consumers to remain vigilant about product safety, promoting an environment where parents can trust the items they provide to their children.
