Mariah Carey’s Beloved Christmas Anthem, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Achieves Fifth Consecutive Year at the Pinnacle of Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart

The undisputed Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, continues to reign supreme as her timeless holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” secures the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of December 23, 2023. Remarkably, the song has maintained its presence on the Hot 100 chart for an impressive 63 weeks, according to data from Billboard.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Carey’s iconic Christmas anthem, pushing Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” to the second position. Notably, Lee’s festive classic had occupied the No. 1 spot for the last two weeks, achieving this feat 65 years after its original release.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” has now made history by becoming the first song to dominate the Hot 100 in “five distinct runs on the chart,” as reported by Billboard. The song’s chart-topping journey began in 2019 when it secured the No. 1 position for three weeks. In 2020, the holiday favorite maintained its supremacy for two weeks, followed by another three-week reign in 2021. The streak continued in 2022, with the song enjoying the top spot for an impressive four weeks.

Despite being initially released in 1994, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” made its entry into the Hot 100’s top 10 in December 2017 and reached the top 5 in December 2018. Since then, the song has consistently claimed the No. 1 position during the holiday season in subsequent years, solidifying its status as an enduring Christmas classic.

Mariah Carey’s latest accomplishment adds another accolade to her illustrious career, as “All I Want for Christmas Is You” secures the chart-topping position for an unprecedented 13th week. This achievement ties Carey with Boyz II Men, making her one of the only artists with three songs that have spent 13 or more weeks each at the top of the Hot 100, according to Billboard.

This remarkable success for Carey comes on the heels of her recently concluded “Merry Christmas One and All!” tour, which wrapped up with a dazzling performance at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on December 17. The tour featured a festive showcase of holiday hits, family festivities, and special guest appearances, including a memorable collaboration with Busta Rhymes.

Mariah Carey’s enduring influence on the Christmas music landscape and her continued chart-topping success affirm her status as the undisputed Queen of Christmas, bringing joy and festive cheer to audiences around the world year after year. As “All I Want for Christmas Is You” continues to captivate listeners, Mariah Carey’s legacy as a holiday music icon remains unrivaled.
