Elijah Blue Allman Seeks Dismissal of Divorce Proceedings After Mother Cher Initiates Conservatorship Filing

Elijah Blue Allman Divorce

Elijah Blue Allman, at the age of 47, has made a legal move to halt the divorce proceedings initiated against his wife, Marieangela King, after a separation of two years. The request for dismissal without prejudice was filed by Allman’s attorney in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, as confirmed by court documents obtained on Wednesday. Importantly, King’s attorney has given consent for the dismissal.

The union between Elijah Blue Allman and Marieangela King began on December 1, 2013. However, on November 15, 2021, Allman filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, following a period of separation that commenced in April 2020. Contrary to the trajectory of many divorces, the couple, during the intervening period, actively worked on reconciling their differences.

A representative for Marieangela King conveyed on Wednesday that the couple had indeed made significant progress in their efforts to salvage their marriage. The statement affirmed their commitment to each other and highlighted the successful reconciliation, signaling a positive turn in their relationship.

The decision to dismiss the divorce case comes on the heels of Cher, the iconic singer and Allman’s mother, filing a petition for conservatorship over her son just a week prior. The conservatorship petition is rooted in concerns about Elijah Blue Allman’s alleged severe mental health and substance abuse issues. Cher, in documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, contends that her son is presently unable to manage his financial assets due to these issues.

According to the filing, Elijah Blue Allman is entitled to regular distributions from a trust established by his father for his benefit. However, Cher expresses apprehension that any funds distributed to her son might be immediately spent on substance abuse, thereby leaving him with no assets to provide for himself, potentially endangering his life. A hearing for a temporary order regarding the conservatorship is scheduled for Friday.

In response to Cher’s conservatorship petition, Marieangela King, Elijah Blue Allman’s wife, has vehemently denounced the legal action. In a statement issued by King’s record label, Verdict Music, shared with Tour Passion, the label characterizes Cher’s petition as “deeply disturbing.” King claims that historically she has been excluded from decisions concerning her husband’s medical treatment.

The statement further reveals King’s hope that the family could have privately worked together, away from public scrutiny, to decide on her husband’s future medical treatment. Despite her past experiences of feeling marginalized in decision-making processes related to her husband’s health during their 10-year marriage, King asserts her capability to care for him and make sound medical and financial decisions on his behalf.

Notably, the statement underscores King’s commitment to Elijah Blue Allman’s recovery and her active involvement in his medical care. This development follows King’s previous allegation, in December 2022, within the context of their divorce case, that Cher orchestrated a kidnapping plot to remove Allman from their New York hotel room on the night of their wedding anniversary in November 2022.

Cher, responding to the abduction allegation in an interview with People magazine in October 2023, denied any involvement in a kidnapping plot. Instead, she attributed the family matter to Allman’s longstanding addiction issues and emphasized her role as a mother, doing everything in her power to assist her children.

The unfolding legal and personal saga involving Elijah Blue Allman, Marieangela King, and Cher reveals a complex interplay of familial relationships, mental health challenges, and substance abuse issues. As the legal proceedings progress, the intricacies of the situation continue to captivate public attention.
