Quaker expands list of recalled products due to potential semolina

Quaker Oats, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, has expanded its recall to encompass another product, extending the list of recalled items due to potential contamination with salmonella. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently updated the recall notice to include an additional granola bar, the Quaker Chewy Dipps Llama Rama 6-count product, with a best-before date of Feb. 10 or 11. This particular product was discontinued in September 2023.

The initial Quaker recall was issued on Dec. 15 and primarily involved granola bars and granola cereals. The subsequent recall on Jan. 11 expanded the list to encompass additional products, including snack mixes and cereal items.

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause illness in humans, with symptoms typically including diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. The infection can be contracted through various sources, including the consumption of contaminated food or water.

The newly added Quaker Chewy Dipps Llama Rama granola bar has been included in the U.S. Recalled Products list. The recall site provides detailed information, including UPC codes and best-before dates, allowing consumers to identify the affected products.

Among the various products included in the expanded recall are Gamesa Marias Cereal, Cap’n Crunch Sea Berry Crunch Cereal, Cap’n Crunch Instant Oatmeal, Cap’n Crunch Treats Peanut Butter Crunch Cereal Bars, Gatorade Protein Bar Peanut Butter Chocolate (available individually or in boxes of six or twelve bars), and Quaker Simply Granola Oats, Honey & Almonds Cereal.

The recall also covers various variety packs and snack boxes containing different bars, as well as other snacks like Quaker Oats Rice Crisps and Frito-Lay potato chips. Most of these products have best-before dates in the year 2024.

Quaker Oats Co. has clarified that the recall excludes certain products from its range, including Quaker Oats, Quaker Instant Oats, Quaker Grits, Quaker Oat Bran, Quaker Oat Flour, and Quaker Rice Snacks.

For individuals who have purchased any of the impacted products subject to the recall and have not yet sought reimbursement, Quaker Oats Co. is actively processing all previously submitted reimbursement requests. Consumers who suspect they possess additional affected products are encouraged to visit the official website and click on the “Get Started” button for further guidance on seeking reimbursement.

As the recall addresses concerns related to salmonella contamination, a bacterial infection with potential health risks, consumers are urged to review the recall list diligently and take appropriate steps if they have purchased any of the identified products. Following the recommended procedures for reimbursement is crucial to ensure consumer safety and satisfaction.
