Las Vegas, renowned for its vibrant Super Bowl celebrations, is bracing for an extraordinary year as it plays host to the epic clash between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, with the possibility of featuring a special Chiefs fan, Taylor Swift.
Anticipating nearly half a million attendees for Super Bowl 58, ticket prices have skyrocketed to unprecedented levels. The expense of attending the game alone is set to cost fans thousands of dollars, and the financial burden doesn’t end there. Hotel and airfare prices are reaching exorbitant heights.
Tim Hentschel, co-founder and CEO of HotelPlanner, stated, “This year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas will be historic. It’s projected to be the most viewed live event of the year and the biggest revenue generator for the city.” Hentschel believes that Las Vegas, with its significant investments in new sporting venues and hotels over the past decade, is now a premier destination for major sporting events.
The Super Bowl, scheduled at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11 and 12, is causing hotel rates to surge. Travelers during the Super Bowl weekend can expect to pay 2.5 times the average hotel rate, around $391 per night, according to travel platform Hopper. The weekend preceding the big game will see an average nightly rate of $161. Trivago found the average hotel price in Vegas over the Super Bowl weekend to be $266, 34% higher than the average rate for the same dates in 2023.
With the high demand for Vegas hotel rooms during the Super Bowl, Hentschel advises people to prepay for their rooms and ask for early check-in to secure their rooms, especially for such high-demand events.
For those looking to save on accommodation, staying off the Las Vegas Strip might offer lower rates. These hotels often provide free shuttle services to the Strip, allowing travelers to join in on the celebratory action.
As for Super Bowl 58 tickets, it has been deemed the most expensive Super Bowl ever, with the cheapest ticket on resale marketplaces priced at $8,100, and better seats ranging from $10,575 to $12,082. The high prices are attributed to the game’s location in Sin City.
To facilitate the transportation of fans to the Super Bowl, major airlines like United, Delta, and American are offering special nonstop services from the San Francisco area and Kansas City to Las Vegas specifically for the big game.
American will offer special flights, including one named Flight AA 1989 in honor of Taylor Swift’s hit album and the year both Swift and Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce were born. United will also contribute with special flights like UA 1989, another nod to Swift’s album, and UA 2287, in honor of Swift’s hit song ’22’ and Kelce’s jersey number.
For 49ers fans, American and United will offer flights such as AA 85, representing tight end George Kittle’s jersey number, and UA 1995, commemorating the last year the 49ers won the Super Bowl.
With the Super Bowl set to make history in Las Vegas, fans are gearing up for an unforgettable experience, even if it comes with a hefty price tag.
