‘Airlines Embrace Swift, Chiefs, 49ers Fandom for Super Bowl Flights – Celebrating Our Football Era’

Football era super bowl winninf celebrated in the flight

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are gearing up for the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, and major airlines like American, Delta, and United are making special arrangements to cater to football and Taylor Swift fans, given her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

American and United are offering special nonstop flights to Las Vegas for the big game. Although neither airline typically operates direct flights between Kansas City and Las Vegas, they are introducing exclusive flights for Super Bowl weekend. American Airlines, in particular, is creatively incorporating references to Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes:

  • Flight AA 1989, a nod to Swift’s hit album (also the year Swift and Kelce were born)
  • Flight AA 87, representing Travis Kelce’s jersey number
  • Flight AA 15, symbolizing Patrick Mahomes’ jersey number
  • Flight AA 1521, combining Mahomes’ and safety Mike Edwards’ jersey numbers

Similarly, United is aligning its flight numbers with Swift and Chiefs references:

  • Flight UA 1989, inspired by Swift’s album
  • Flight UA 2287, honoring Swift’s song ’22’ and Kelce’s jersey number
  • Flight UA 1587, representing Mahomes’ and Kelce’s jersey numbers

Delta is also joining the fray by offering special nonstop flights between Kansas City International Airport and Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport for Super Bowl weekend.

For 49ers fans traveling from San Francisco International Airport, American is offering flights with unique references:

  • Flight AA 85, George Kittle’s jersey number
  • Flight AA 262, representing quarterback Brock Purdy, the 262nd pick in the NFL draft

United, too, is incorporating 49ers-related references into its flight numbers:

  • Flight UA 1995, commemorating the last year the 49ers won the Super Bowl
  • Flight UA 1849, honoring the San Francisco Gold Rush

Both American and Delta, which don’t usually operate nonstop flights between San Francisco International and Harry Reid International Airport, are making exceptions for Super Bowl weekend. United is also expanding its existing service temporarily.

Additionally, Delta and United will introduce direct flights between San Jose Mineta International Airport and Las Vegas, which is not part of their regular routes. Delta is also expanding its existing service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Vegas for the Super Bowl.

It’s common for airlines to provide additional services around major events, especially sporting spectacles like the Super Bowl. The special flights aim to accommodate the surge in demand from fans traveling to the game and capitalize on the excitement surrounding the event.

The Super Bowl is scheduled to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The unique flight offerings add an extra layer of excitement for football enthusiasts and Taylor Swift fans heading to the game.
